My work explores the intersection of memory, spiritual ecology, and the Irish landscape. Rooted in photography, I construct layered composite images that transcend the purely visual to evoke the inner life of the land, a place where time dissolves and the boundaries between the human and the natural blur.
Drawing on myth, seasonal rhythms, and ancestral memory, I photograph forests, fields, and skies over long periods, often returning to the same locations over months or years. These places become both real and symbolic: thresholds into emotional, spiritual, and psychological states. Through digital layering, my images become visual prayers, meditations, and mappings of presence.
My most recent body of work, Sleeping in a Forest, reflects a deeper turn toward what I consider "earth listening": a form of spiritual tuning to the land. Inspired by writers like Karen Armstrong (Sacred Nature) and guided by personal ritual, I see this practice as a way of reimagining our relationship to Earth not as a resource, but as kin and consciousness.
These works are not nostalgic. They are attempts to translate what is unseen, the metaphysical, the energetic, the emotional pulse of place, using a photographic language that bends linear time and invites viewers into a slower, more contemplative space. Technically, I merge high-resolution photographic composites with subtle colour washes and shadow play to create a painterly effect that oscillates between the representational and the dreamlike.
Ultimately, my work aims to offer stillness and connection in a world dominated by speed and dislocation, an invitation to remember that we, too, are nature.
